The Election Commission has claimed that the by-election of Dhaka-17 seat was conducted in a fair and peaceful manner. Along with that, they termed the terrorist attack on independent candidate Ashraful Hossain alias Hero Alam at the last moment of voting as an attempt to question the election.
The question is who made the attempt? The election commission is responsible for the overall management of the election. The members of the law and order forces who are responsible for the security of the elections also come under them (the commission). Article 120 of the Constitution states, 'On the Election Commission If requested by the Election Commission, the President Election Commission will arrange for the provision of employees who will be required to perform the assigned duties.'
There is a lot of discussion in political circles about the attack on independent candidate Hero Alam. The opposition party within the country criticized and said that the party that cannot tolerate Hero Alam, how will they give a fair election? The United Nations has expressed concern. The United States expressed concern. Ambassadors of 12 countries made a joint statement in Dhaka.
