The income of all government companies of gas production and distribution is increasing

The government has given an opportunity to increase the income of all government institutions responsible for gas production, transmission and distribution. From now on every organization will get more money for each unit of gas than before. The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources announced this decision in an executive order.
The announcement was made in four separate notifications on Thursday to increase the income of the companies from the sale of gas. But it will not have any impact at customer level. As a result, customers will not have to pay any additional price for gas. Earlier last January, the government increased the price of gas at the consumer level by an average of 82 percent. However, at that time the issue of increasing the income of any organization was not clarified.
Revenue per unit of gas sold at consumer level includes production charge, liquefied natural gas (LNG) charge, gas development fund, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) research fund, energy security fund, transmission charge, distribution charge and value added tax. Energy sector regulator BERC used to set prices by sector. However, according to the executive orders of the Energy Department, the income of Gas Development Fund, BERC Research Fund and Energy Security Fund has not been increased. However, these funds are used for gas exploration and production.
